LOUISIANA PUBLIC BROADCASTING AND THE SECRETARY OF STATE’S OFFICE HOSTED A SPECIAL PREVIEW OF THE PBS SERIES “WE SHALL REMAIN” ON APRIL 2

Director Chris Eyre and American Experience Executive Producer Mark Samels spoke at a special preview of the five-part series We Shall Remain on Thursday, April 2 from 6:00-8:00 PM at the State Archives Building. The Archives Building is located at 3851 Essen Lane in Baton Rouge.

The American Experience series tells the story of Native Americans in North America from the 1600s to the present.

“You can’t understand America in the 21st century if you don’t understand the Native experience,” Eyre says. “What connects these five films is the resolve of their characters. This country is founded on people striving, being tenacious and moving forward…this is a look at that, through Native eyes.”

The event, which was underwritten by the Tunica -Biloxi Tribe of Louisiana, began with a reception at 6PM that featured a performance by the Tunica-Biloxi Singers and Legend Keepers. That was followed by a preview screening and discussion with Eyre and Samels.
