LSU

Impact of the show:

  • Respondents increased the % of children that they though died of preventable diseases from about 40% to 60%.
  • After the show, more respondents thought the US spent too little (38.5% to 69.2%).
  • There was an increase from 38.5% to 53.8% in the percentage of respondents who would be willing to pay more taxes to support world health programs.
  • There was a slight shift in perceptions toward higher infant morality rates in LA as compared to the rest of the US.
  • There was also a slight shift towards believing LA’s infant mortality rate was better than the rest of the world.
  • Respondents are less likely to give to a non-profit health organization.
  • They are also slightly less likely to donate their time (though really not by much).
  • A fairly strong shift to working on US health problems first.
  • After the show respondents thought the world had a greater impact on them personally than before the show.
