Restoring the Coast, Pennington Receives $5 Million NIH Grant

Louisiana’s Moon Shot – Restoring the Coast (4:05) The Louisiana Coastal and Restoration Authority (CPRA) released their 2017 draft of the Coast Master Plan this week. The 50-year, $50 billion plan began following Hurricane Katrina. Bolstered with money from the BP Oil Spill settlement, the Master Plan is updated every five years. Charlie Whinham talks with Windell Curole of the South Lafourche Levee District, as well as lead CPRA researcher Bren Haase to get the latest on the program many call “Louisiana’s Moon Shot.” SHARE


Pennington Receives $5 Million NIH Grant (17:34) The National Institute of Health (NIH) awarded LSU Biomedical Research Center a $5.28 million grant to study the molecular effects of exercise. The Molecular Transducers of Physical Activity (MoTrPAC) program aims to understand the importance of physical activity on a molecular level. Dr. Eric Ravussin explains the research that will include recruiting Louisiana adults for the study. SHARE
