Louisiana Public Broadcasting premiered a special concert on Sunday, December 12, 2010 honoring Robert Grayson for his 25 years with the LSU School of Music. The concert was recorded at the LSU Union Theater in September.

A world–renowned tenor in his own right who spent more than a decade with the New York City Opera, Grayson is a Kirkpatrick Professor and Chair of the Voice/Opera Division in the LSU Music Department. He also serves as Executive Director of Opera Louisiane, the organization created to bring world class opera talent to the state and showcase Louisiana opera performers.

Grayson is joined by former students Metropolitan Opera star Paul Groves, Matt Morgan of the New York City Opera and Chad Shelton of the San Francisco Opera. They’re accompanied by conductor and pianist Michael Borowitz.

Highlights include Grayson performing his own composition “Fleur de Lis,” Groves performing Donizetti’s “Una Furtiva Lagrima,” Grayson and Groves performing “Au fond du temple saint” (“Pearl Fisher’s Duet”) by Bizet, Morgan performing “Chitera Romana and the entire cast singing “Nessun Dorma” from Puccini’s “Turnadot” and “La donna e mobile” from Verdi’s “Rigoletto.”
