ART ROCKS! Episode #508

Celebrating 10 years of Opéra Louisiane; Alexandria's Louisiana History Museum, and more!

ART ROCKS! Episode #508 Scene from Opéra Louisiane’s production of Elixir of Love
This week on Art Rocks!, we raise the curtain on Opéra Louisiane, celebrating 10 years of bringing some of the finest opera performers in the nation to the stage in Baton Rouge including Elizabeth Futral, Hope Briggs, Paul Groves, and Todd Thomas. We’ll introduce you to New York artist David Bentley, who turns vintage household items into art. Plus, we’ll take you to the Louisiana History Museum in Alexandria, which houses documents of one of the greatest engineering feats of the Civil War, the dam created to deepen a section of the Red River allowing Union forces to float heavy equipment across it. That’s this week’s Louisiana Treasure.

Hosted by James Fox-Smith of Country Roads Magazine, Art Rocks! airs Friday, October 27 at 8:30PM and Saturday, October 28 at 5:30PM and is LPB’s weekly series that spotlights artists, performance, culture, literature, history and the impact of art in our world. It features Louisiana stories, as well as segments from across the country. Current and past episodes are here: http://www.lpb.org/artrocks. Major production funding for Art Rocks! is provided by Georgia-Pacific Port Hudson Operations and Lamar Advertising Company.
