Governor’s Address

The governor changed things up to kick off the second special session of the legislature this year. Instead of speaking at the Capitol, he chose the University of Louisiana at Lafayette as his venue and his talk was directly to all Louisiana citizens.

Remembering John McKeithen

The 49th governor of Louisiana would have celebrated his 100th birthday next Monday, May 28th. Kelly Spires took a dive into the archives to learn more about the man behind the “won’t cha he’p me” slogan. Remembering John McKeithen.

McCoy v Louisiana

The United States Supreme Court this week issued a decision on a case that originated in Louisiana. Kelly Spires learns from a criminal procedure specialist at Southern University Law Center what makes the decision important.

Public Square

According to the 2018 Louisiana Survey, when it comes to trusting news organizations, more Louisiana residents put their faith in local media than national media outlets. Despite that trust, only 36 percent of the state’s news consumers say local news deals fairly with both sides. We recap LPB’s Louisiana Public Square episode “News about the News.”

Fishing for a Cause

A charter fly-fisherman has made it his mission to use his profession to help maintain the coast. Lucas Bissett is with the non-profit group Anglers Bettering Louisiana’s Estuaries. They’re planting native black mangroves to help stabilize shorelines.
