In Louisiana, one in three state prisoners will return to prison within three years of serving their time. The Legislature has tried to reduce that number through a package of laws passed in 2017. But there is a program at Elayn Hunt Correctional Center that’s seeing successful results.

When a Baton Rouge woman became Miss Wheelchair Louisiana and then Miss Wheelchair America, her platform to promote activities to make life better for people with spinal cord injuries widened. She’ll tell us about that platform.

As Louisiana faced ongoing budget crises, state leaders said the number of state contracts should be reduced. Two years later, the Governor’s office says they have reduced the number of contracts by 30%. We discuss the accuracy of those numbers.
