02/16 - Effects of Expansion: Medicaid in Louisiana

How will the lives of those who now have access to health care change?

In January, Governor John Bel Edwards fulfilled his campaign promise and expanded Medicaid. An estimated 300,000 Louisianians will be eligible for coverage. How will the lives of those who now have access to health care change? What will the expansion mean for the cost of health care and insurance for everyone else in the state? How will hospitals be affected? Louisiana Public Square looks for answers on “Effects of Expansion: Medicaid in Louisiana” airing Wednesday, February 24 at 7 p.m. (Record date: Thursday, February 18)

Our Panelists:

It’s important that Governor Edwards accept Fedral Medicaid Health Funding for poor tax payers. They deserve it plus it is the will of Almighty God that the fortunate help take care the less fortunate among us.

12/18 - News About the News (Encore)

How can viewers distinguish between fact and fake news and is social media blurring the difference?
According to the 2018 Louisiana Survey, when it comes to trusting news organizations, more Louisiana residents put their faith in local media than national media outlets. Despite that trust, only 36 percent of the state’s news consumers say local news deals fairly with both sides.

So, why is there so much mistrust of the news media? Where are consumers primarily getting their news? How can viewers distinguish between fact and fake news and is social media blurring the difference? Louisiana Public Square looks for answers to these questions and more on a special encore presentation of “News about the News” airing Wednesday, December 26 at 7pm on LPB and in New Orleans on WLAE.
