Joshua Stockley, Ph.D. University of Louisiana at Monroe
Dr. Joshua P. Stockley is an Associate Professor of Political Science at the University of Louisiana at Monroe. He received his B.A. in History and Political Science at Oklahoma Baptist University and his Ph.D. in Political Science at the University of Oklahoma. Prof. Stockley’s teaching and research cover American government, state and local politics, campaigns and elections, Southern politics, public policy, and public administration. His works have appeared in the journals Race, Class, and Gender, Louisiana Progress, and Southern Political Report; as well as the edited volumes The Roads to Congress and Mediated Images of the South. Prof. Stockley appears frequently in newspapers, on radio, and on television stations in Louisiana and across the nation.

For decades Louisiana has proclaimed itself as the “Sportsman’s Paradise.” But for today’s hunters, changes to Louisiana’s landscape have caused a decline in the quality of the state’s deer habitat and smaller game. For coastal fishermen, private property rights often unduly restrict access to waters that are considered public in any other state.
