Daniel Banguel Reformed Bully & Anti-Bullying Advocate
Daniel Banguel is a self-admitted former high school bully who now serves as an anti-bullying spokesman. He was a featured panelist at the Southern University Division of Continuing Education’s statewide conference “Bullying: A Call for Action” in February. He also appeared before the House Education Committee during the most recent legislative session in support of anti-bullying legislation proposed by Louisiana State Representative Patricia Smith that won the support of the Louisiana House of Representatives.
He has also been featured as the keynote speaker at school and community outreach events and has given several interviews to local newspaper, radio and TV stations about his transformation and bullying prevention.
Daniel received his undergraduate degrees from Northwestern State University – where he served as Student Government President - and Southern University A & M College.
What are the programs and initiatives helping our veterans successfully transition to civilian life?
Since 2001, 2.6 million service men and women have been deployed to support operations in Iraq and Afghanistan. Twenty-six percent of Louisiana’s veterans fought in these conflicts. The needs for these veterans are plentiful including securing employment and housing, and dealing with the mental rigors of transitioning from military back to civilian life.
