Baton Rouge Ballet Theatre (BRBT) presents the School Day Matinee Performance of Rapunzel: A Storybook Ballet. All local schools and home school groups are invited to attend this original ballet production for a discounted student price.
BRBT’s School Day Matinees provide local students with inexpensive, cumulative art experiences that pair classroom curriculum with field trips to the theatre to enjoy full-scale live ballet performances. Participating schools receive a reference guide and suggested curriculum to help students prepare for the show before traveling to the River Center Theatre to see Act II of BRBT's newest original production, Rapunzel: A Storybook Ballet. This condensed version of the performance provides an approachable introduction to classical ballet and theatre for students in attendance. Students also have the opportunity to meet some of the dancers behind their favorite fairytale characters.
“With a fun mix of the classical and the new, this ballet is an entertaining and engaging introduction to the performing arts,” said the production’s co-director, Rebecca Acosta. “And since it’s such a familiar fairytale, it’s easy for students to follow along as they experience the story translated through movement”.
The cost for Rapunzel School Day is only $10 per student, which includes a free chaperone with every ten students. Seating is limited, and reservations are taken on a first-come-first-served basis (by postmark). To register, call 225.766.8379.
Public performances of the full-length production of Rapunzel: A Storybook Ballet are Friday, April 7, at 7:30pm and Saturday, April 8, at 2pm at the River Center Theatre for the Performing Arts. Tickets for the public performances are available through Ticketmaster, River Center Box Office or the Baton Rouge Ballet Theatre Office.
