Season 6 - Episode 605

click for larger image We remember artist Floyd Sonnier, who created intricate pen and ink drawings depicting rural life in Acadiana. His illustrations live on in many homes and businesses, including his gallery in Scott, Louisiana, where Sonnier’s widow continues to share the stories behind his work. We hear from members of The Los Angeles Unified School District, whose mission is to put instruments in the hands of students who would otherwise not have the opportunity to learn music. Then, we will share the story of Saint Peter United Methodist Church in Donaldsonville, built for former slaves after the end of the Civil War. That’s this week’s Louisiana Treasure. These stories and more on Art Rocks!
