Season 1 - Episode 102

click for larger image LPB Producer Tika Laudun interviews Publisher Frank Eakin and Acadamy Award-winning actor Louis Gosset, Jr. about the 1853 memoir, “Twelve Years a Slave.” Without the work of Dr. Sue Eakin, the compelling true story might have slipped into obscurity. Albuquerque printmaker Ray Maseman’s inventive crew of animal characters comes from dreams, myths and children’s stories. Maseman discusses the role of the penguin, the giraffe, and other archetypes in his clever drawings. We’ll hear the music of an Ohio-based indie band, Dave Buker and the Historians; and in our Louisiana Treasures segment, we’ll explain how the architecture of shotgun houses came to New Orleans.
