A JAZZ GREAT, LOUISIANA ROOTS, AND CENLA ART THIS WEEK ON LPB:

LPB (Two young cheetah cubs with their mother at Malilangwe Wildlife Reserve, Zimbabwe. See their story Wednesday at 7PM on Nature.)

Tonight at 7, see another special edition of Antiques Roadshow - Our 50 States 2. Highlights include a Green Bay Packers championship group, and a Joseph Henry Sharp oil. At 8, The VA & the Human Cost of War examine the history of the Department of Veterans Affairs, from the 1920's to the modern VA system. On Independent Lens at 9PM, explore the life of jazz great John Coltrane. Denzel Washington speaks the words of Coltrane.

A Louisiana native learns more about his family history Tuesday night at 7. Bryant Gumbel, along with Tonya Lewis-Lee, and Suzanne Malveaux each discover unexpected ancestry on Finding Your Roots. At 8 on The Vietnam War. Richard Nixon, promising peace, narrowly wins the presidency. Then at 10PM on Silent Witness, Nikki and Jack travel to Scotland to investigate the murder of a dancer.

Follow a wild cheetah family in Zimbabwe as they fight the odds to stay alive on Nature Wednesday at 7PM. Next on NOVA, scientists are discovering traces of ancient floods on a scale that dwarfs even the most severe flood disasters of recent times. FRONTLINE at 9PM investigates who profits when disaster strikes, focusing on Superstorm Sandy.

Thursday night at 7, Father Brown has to deal with what appears to be the threat of an alien invasion. At 8, Doc Martin takes James to playgroup, and Ruth is having problems with her new neighbor. On Dickensian at 9, Bob Cratchit tells Bucket that he was scrounging for food when Marley was murdered. Then at 10 on Dr. Blake Mysteries, the murder of a local magistrate may be linked to Lucien's mother's death four decades ago.

Every Friday night starts off with the only statewide newsmagazine, LPB's Louisiana: The State We're In at 7PM. At 8:30 on Art Rocks!, meet an Alexandria artist who incorporates multiple images and layers when creating her artwork to tell stories rich in symbolism. At 9PM, Great Performances presents In the Heights: Chasing Broadway Dreams. Follow the cast and creative team of the Tony Award-winning musical. That's followed at 10 by Foo Fighters - Landmarks Live in Concert: A Great Performances Special. Enjoy the GRAMMY-winning band in performance at the amphitheater at Athens' Acropolis.

Saturday night on LPB means classic British comedies starting at 7PM. At 9 on A Place to Call Home, has Jack uncovered that Sarah is not her real name? On The Tunnel: Sabotage at 10PM, an anonymous package helps the investigation. Then, Lance blames his recent lack of treasure hunting success on his discovery of cursed artifacts on The Detectorists.

Spiro and Hugh organize a "friendly" cricket match on The Durrells in Corfu Season 2 on Masterpiece Sunday at 7PM. A great deal of emotion at 8 on Poldark Season 3 on Masterpiece: Morwenna gives birth; George triumphs; Ross and Demelza bear their souls. At 9 on The Collection on Masterpiece, Dominique is recovering, and Charlotte tries to woo Claude over to her fashion house.

LPB TO TAKE PART IN LAKE CHARLES’ VETERANS DAY ACTIVITIES

LPB LPB will take part in the City of Lake Charles Mayor’s Armed Forces Commission Veterans Day activities at the Lake Charles Civic Center, Saturday, November 11, 2017. As part of their community outreach for the PBS series The Vietnam War: A Film By Ken Burns & Lynn Novick, LPB will bring their 20 x 30 Traveling Map of Vietnam and record oral histories from Vietnam veterans in the Lake Charles area. LPB invites all Vietnam veterans to sign the map of the Vietnam War Theater. Veterans, family members of veterans, and anyone affected by the Vietnam War will also be able to record their stories.

Veterans who would like to record an oral history need to schedule a time with LPB by calling Marian at (225) 767-4204 or 1-800-272-8161, ext. 4204. Veterans who come to record their oral history are encouraged to bring photographs, and other small memorabilia from their time in Vietnam. LPB will schedule recording appointments on the half hour from 9:30AM to 11AM and 1 to 4PM. All interviews will be cataloged in the Louisiana Digital Media Archive.

Veterans can also record their own testimonies and submit them on LPB's website. LPB’s inclusion in this event is being sponsored by the Lake Charles/Southwest Louisiana Convention & Visitors Bureau and the City of Lake Charles.
