FABULOUS MUSIC AND A NEW LPB DOCUMENTARY HIGHLIGHT PROGRAMMING THIS WEEK:

LPB Watch as history meets fantasy with treasures fit for a period costume drama such as a 1907 Robert Henri oil painting. See Mansion Masterpieces on Antiques Roadshow tonight at 7 on LPB. At 8:30PM, American Masters profiles Bob Hope. Hear about the entertainer's life through clips from his films and radio and TV shows. At 10:30, the many documentaries and short series produced by Ken Burns are showcased.

Tuesday night at 7, hear 14 stories from Louisiana Vietnam veterans or their family members. Hear where and how they served in their own words on The Vietnam War: Louisiana Stories. (All of the oral histories gathered by LPB are housed on the Louisiana Digital Media Archive - LDMA.) At 8, see the finale of Ken Burns' and Lynn Novick's The Vietnam War. Saigon falls and the war ends. Americans and Vietnamese from all sides search for reconciliation. At 10PM, join host Patti Labelle for an all-star reunion of the legends of 1970s Motown, R&B, and soul on 70s Soul Superstars.

Wednesday at 7, see a new musical retrospective hosted by original MTV veejay Martha Quinn. The 80s celebrates the hitmakers of the decade, including Cyndi Lauper, A-Ha, Blondie, Madonna, Bruce Springsteen, and more. At 9, see an encore of The Beatles: Eight Days a Week - The Touring Years.

Thursday at 7PM, the lovely ladies of Celtic Woman dazzle us yet again in Homecoming: Ireland. Hear classic songs such as "Amazing Grace," "Walk Beside Me," "You Raise Me Up," and more. At 9, Hitman David Foster is joined by a list of celebrity performers.

Every Friday at 7PM, see Louisiana's only statewide newsmagazine, Louisiana: The State We're In. At 8, 60s Pop, Rock & Soul lets you relive all the great songs of that decade. Then at 10PM, see The Moody Blues: Days of Future. The supergroup performed the entire album in concert in Toronto during their 2017 world tour.

Get in the spirit of the holidays Saturday at 6PM with Christmas with Daniel O'Donnell. The Irish crooner performs carols and seasonal favorites with his special guests. At 7, enjoy a prequel to Keeping Up Appearances, Young Hyacinth. Witness the early years of this Britcom heroine. Gather the whole family around the TV at 8PM for Victor Borge: 100 Years of Music & Laughter, an unparalleled collection of the comedian's funniest and most memorable skits. At 9:30, catch an encore of The 80s.

Celtic Woman - Homecoming: Ireland leads off Sunday night at 6PM. At 8, take a look back at the first season of Victoria, and get a glimpse of Season 2, premiering on January 14, in Victoria Returns. At 8:30, LPB will encore The Vietnam War: Louisiana Stories. At 9:30 in Reflections on the Vietnam War, more than a dozen Vietnam vets recount their tours of duty.

HELP US RECOGNIZE THIS STATE'S INSPIRATIONAL STUDENTS

LPB LPB and the Rotary Club of Baton Rouge are looking for the 2018 Louisiana Young Heroes. A Young Hero can be defined in many ways, but to those who know them they are exceptional students who devote their time, talents, and energy to make a difference. Now in its 23rd year, the Louisiana Young Heroes Awards annually honor students in grades 7-12 who excel in the classroom, serve their local communities, and sometimes demonstrate great personal courage in overcoming adversity.

Nominations are now being accepted for the 2018 Louisiana Young Heroes. Students must be enrolled in a Louisiana school (public, private or parochial) or home-schooled, and cannot be older than 19 years of age. Nomination forms can be downloaded and filled out or submitted through the online form at lpb.org/heroes. Letters of recognition, newspaper articles, and other supporting materials should be sent to support the nomination. Previous winners are not eligible. The deadline for entries is January 31, 2018. Winners will be announced on LPB’s weekly news and public affairs program Louisiana the State We’re In and lpb.org on February 23, 2018 at 7PM. Louisiana Young Heroes Day will be Monday, April 16, 2018. The Young Heroes will be treated to a day full of activities in Baton Rouge, including a number of surprises.

LPB See Martin and Chris Kratt live on stage here in Louisiana! Join the Kratt Brothers for Wild Kratts Live at Shreveport Municipal Memorial Auditorium on Friday, January 26, 2018 at 6:30PM. Experience, live on stage, the astounding “creature” fundamentals, and the infectious excitement and inspiring quest of the Kratt Brothers that make their hit PBS series so popular with kids and their families. LPB also has tickets to see guitar virtuoso Joe Bonamassa (pictured) in concert in Shreveport or New Orleans. A $200 contribution gets you an Orchestra Ticket and Meet & Greet Pass for the performance at Shreveport Municipal Auditorium on Friday, May 18 or at the Saenger Theatre in New Orleans on Saturday, May 19. A $150 contribution secures an Orchestra Ticket for either performance.
