This Week on LPB - November 13-19, 2017


LPB (LPB gets spaced out Wednesday night with A Year in Space, followed by Beyond a Year in Space starting at 7PM.)

LPB presents two special episodes of Antiques Roadshow tonight! At 7 on Junk in the Trunk 7, see never-before-aired appraisals from all six Season 21 cities, including a 1927 Yankees team-signed baseball. At 8 on Junk in the Trunk 3, get the first look at treasures from Season 17, including an old book with a mysterious past. At 9PM on The Boys of '36: American Experience, hear the story of the American rowing team that triumphed at the 1936 Olympics in Nazi Germany. Then at 10 on The Coroner, what will it take to convince the residents of Lighthaven that a "big cat" is roaming the moors?

Lupita Nyong'o, Carmelo Anthony, and Ana Navarro will learn their heritage Tuesday at 7PM on Finding Your Roots. On The Vietnam War at 8PM, when President Nixon sends troops into Cambodia, the antiwar movement flares up again. At 10PM on Silent Witness, the pressure is on Nikki, Jack, and DS Ross to apprehend a serial killer.

LPB's programming will be out of this world Wednesday night! At 7PM, A Year in Space follows Scott Kelly's 12-month mission on the International Space Station, from launch to landing. At 8 meet the next generation of astronauts training to leave Earth's orbit and travel into deep space on Beyond a Year in Space. Then at 9, The Farthest Voyager in Space chronicles how NASA's epic Voyager missions, launched in 1977, ushered humanity into the interstellar age.

Thursday at 7PM, Flambeau is incarcerated for murder and Father Brown suspects an ulterior motive. At 8, Doc Martin has to figure out what is wrong with beachcomber Lorna. Next on Dickensian, a potential rival at Satis House gives Compeyson cause for concern. At 10 on Dr. Blake Mysteries, Lucien is wound up in a web of politics and revenge following a murder in the hospital.

The only statewide newsmagazine, Louisiana: The State We're In, kicks off Friday night's schedule at 7PM. Andre' Moreau and the team give you news and information from across Louisiana. At 8:30 on Art Rocks!, we’re in Baton Rouge to welcome the Knock Knock Children’s Museum to the City Park neighborhood, and we marvel at the stained glass, tile mosaics, and sculpture of St. Joseph Cathedral, located in the heart of downtown.. At 9PM on Great Performances, see Indecent, Paula Vogel's Tony Award winning stage show that looks at an explosive moment in theatrical history.

Laugh until it hurts with LPB's U.K. comedies starting at 7PM. At 9 on A Place to Call Home, Jack goes around town with Sarah on her first day on the job. At 10, Karl and Elise race to get a target to safety on The Tunnel: Sabotage. Next on The Detectorists, a stranger shakes up the metal detecting club.

Your favorite Masterpiece series continue Sunday night! On The Durrells in Corfu Season 2 on Masterpiece at 7PM, Dr. Petrides has his hands full, but Louisa, Leslie, and Spiro will come to his aid. At 8 on Poldark Season 3 on Masterpiece, Demelza and Armitage reveal their feelings, and Ross makes a vow. On The Collection on Masterpiece at 9, Charlotte's new business venture is tanking, and Bompard makes a surprise appearance. On Dunkirk at 10PM, Jimmy Langley is injured during fierce fighting. At 11, see Poirot: Dead Man's Folly on Masterpiece. A girl pretending to be a murder victim actually becomes one.

With help from his friends, Elmo will bring kindness, holiday cheer, and the spirit of Christmas to Sesame Street. LPB LPB and the Rotary Club of Baton Rouge are looking for the 2018 Louisiana Young Heroes. A Young Hero can be defined in many ways, but to those who know them they are exceptional students who devote their time, talents, and energy to make a difference. Now in its 23rd year, the Louisiana Young Heroes Awards annually honor students in grades 7-12 who excel in the classroom, serve their local communities, and sometimes demonstrate great personal courage in overcoming adversity.

Nominations are now being accepted for the 2018 Louisiana Young Heroes. Students must be enrolled in a Louisiana school (public, private or parochial) or home-schooled, and cannot be older than 19 years of age. Nomination forms can be downloaded and filled out or submitted through the online form at Letters of recognition, newspaper articles, and other supporting materials should be sent to support the nomination. Previous winners are not eligible. The deadline for entries is January 31, 2018. Winners will be announced on LPB’s weekly news and public affairs program Louisiana the State We’re In and on February 23, 2018 at 7PM. Louisiana Young Heroes Day will be Monday, April 16, 2018. The Young Heroes will be treated to a day full of activities in Baton Rouge, including a number of surprises.
