Guide to Member Services

Thank You For Supporting Louisiana Public Broadcasting

You are our greatest asset! Membership contributions such as yours allow us to bring you stimulating programs of consistently high quality and rich diversity. All your favorites—Nature, This Old House, Mystery!, Nova, Sesame Street, The Lawrence Welk Show, Austin City Limits, Masterpiece Theatre, The Newshour with Jim Lehrer—are made possible by Friends of LPB members just like you, who appreciate excellent programming without commercials.

We Welcome Your Opinion

We want to hear from you whenever we disappoint you, surprise you, or impress you. We know our members care about Louisiana Public Broadcasting in a special way, and we make a point to listen to their opinions carefully. Be sure to let us know when you have a comment or suggestion.

Address your comments to:

Friends of LPB
7733 Perkins Road

Or call (225)767-4214 or (in Louisiana) 1-800-272-8161, ext. 4214.

Comments about programming can be sent to the Programming Department. (E-mail: comments@lpb.org)

Program Guide

All members contributing $45 or more per year receive 12 monthly issues of LPB's program guide, VISIONS. This comprehensive viewing guide lets you know each month what's new, what's changed and what's extra-special on LPB. It provides highlights and behind-the-scenes information about our organization, and keeps you informed about LPB news and exclusive opportunities for members.

Your Mailing Label

The mailing label on your monthly program guide is an important source of information. It shows you your membership number and the expiration date. If you include the entire label with any correspondence, it can help us serve you better. Also, be sure the address on your label is complete and accurate. Make any needed corrections and return it to us at Friends of LPB.

Are These Mailing Labels Addressed to the Same Household?

     #1 Exp. Date: 12/31/1996

     Big Bird

     123 Sesame Street

     Baton Rouge, LA 70810

     #2 Exp. Date: 12/31/1996

     B. Byrd

     123 Sesame Street

     Baton Rouge, LA 70810

It appears that these two labels are addressed to the same person. Yet our computer, a stickler for detail and consistency, would fail to realize that. If a viewer uses the name Big Bird one time and pledges later as B. Byrd, the computer registers them as two memberships.

If you're receiving duplicate copies of VISIONS, look at the mailing labels. Please send us both labels, indicating which is the correct or preferred one, and we'll correct our listing as quickly as possible.

Change of Address

Please give us six weeks notice and be sure to give us both your old and new address or just attach your VISIONS mailing label in place of your old address.

Missing/Late VISIONS

The first issue of your program guide is usually sent within 3 weeks of receiving your membership contribution. Thereafter, you should receive your guide before the first of each month. If you don't receive it, please call us right away at (225) 767-4214 or (800) 272-8161, ext. 4214 and let us know. We will help you track down the problem and in the case of lost or missing guides, send you a replacement copy.

Other Member Benefits

  • Annual voting for the Friends of LPB Board of Directors election each fall. The Board of Directors sets the policy and direction for Friends of LPB. Members must be present at the Annual Meeting to participate.
  • Special sweepstakes mailings.

  • Invitations to attend special events.

Be sure to exercise your membership options and participate fully in Friends of LPB!

Thank You Gifts

Sometimes we have a special gift or premium as our way of saying thank you to members for their support. If you are entitled to a gift and it has not arrived after six weeks, please let us know. Sometimes our premiums require re-ordering. If this should occur, you'll receive a note from us letting you know the anticipated delivery date.

Our Membership Mailing List

Be assured that Friends of LPB does not sell or exchange its mailing list with any commercial concern.

When we use lists from other organizations we try to eliminate the names of current members from these lists, but inadvertent duplication does occur. If you receive a membership solicitation from us please accept our apologies and share it with a friend or colleague who is not a member.

Tax Deductions

Your contributions to Friends of LPB are tax-deductible to the full extent allowed by law in the United States.

U.S. residents who make donations and who receive premium gifts above the de minimus value established by the IRS will automatically receive a receipt issued at the end of January for all contributions made during the previous calendar year.
