Friends of Louisiana Public Broadcasting would like to thank everyone who supported the Opera Louisiane Gala on Saturday, October 27, 2007 at the Baton Rouge River Center Theatre.
“We had such a good time,” said audience member Mary Richardson. “Speaking for me personally, I could not have had a better night. I am so grateful to LPB for making it possible.”
LPB and Opera Louisiane partnered to bring world-renowned performances to Louisiana for a night of beautiful music.
“During our 32 years on the air, LPB and PBS have brought more than a hundred operas featuring the world’s most famous performers to the viewers of Louisiana, so it was natural for LPB to join with Opéra Louisiane to create this once-in-a-lifetime concert,” said LPB CEO/President Beth Courtney.
Paul Groves, Jeffery Wells, Matt Morgan, Elizabeth Futral, Lisette Oropesa, Lucas Meachem and special guest star Susan Graham performed at the Gala which served as the opening performance for the new opera company Opéra Louisiane.
Opéra Louisiane is dedicated to presenting opera performances of the highest musical standard, advancing Louisiana musicians, and promoting cooperation and collaboration among Baton Rouge performing arts groups.
