Comments About the Workshop:

Am I the only one that is still scratching from all of the red bug bites? I even found a tick on my stomach on Saturday night! Maybe it is just psychosomatic, but I know that there must be some other ticks lurking somewhere on my body. My heart aches for all of those young soldiers that endured 48 days of red bugs, ticks, mosquitoes, heat, rain, and those steep inclines.

We wanted to thank you for attending our workshop to Port Hudson this past Saturday. I know how hard it is to do extra things on Saturdays after having worked so hard all week. It is most tempting to just turn off the alarm and go back to sleep. You certainly went the extra mile by attending our workshop.

It was a day that I will fondly remember the rest of my life. I will forever picture us climbing the inclines and walking along the ridge crests.

Dr. Laver was such a good teacher and guide. His descriptions were so detailed and complete. I was able to picture that time so long ago in our history. Did you notice that when he told us about the white crosses that were painted on the trees, that almost everyone turned around to look at the trees to see if the crosses might not still be there?

A special thank you to Angela Corkern for her presentation at lunch. Angela said that she would be glad to share her Across Five Aprils unit with you. Her email address is angela.corkern@tangischools.org.

The book that I showed you is entitled Where Bugles Called and Rifles Gleamed. Its author is William A. Spedale. The ISBN Number is 0-935545-04-2. The publisher is Land and Land. This is a BR company. Mr. Spedale resides in BR.

I will mail your stipends to your parishes this afternoon. Please let me know if you have difficulty receiving your stipend in a timely manner.

Again, thank you so very much for spending your Saturday with us. We made some wonderful memories.

Ann

I thought I might be the only one still scratching from red bug bites! Luckily, I haven't found any ticks. The trip was an excellent learning experience that, I too, I will remember forever. It also gives me some insight on how the Vicksburg/Shiloh trip will be. I always enjoy the comradery of our trips, it is very rewarding to mingle and socialize with other professionals. Brenda

#4 It was such a wonderful trip. I enjoyed it so much. However, I'm

wondering how many creatures are lurking on my skin. The professors

were so knowledgeable and made the day very informative. Thanks

again...........Pamela

I enjoyed the trip immensely! I can't even begin to tell everything I learned from Dr. Laver and my fellow educators, who were positively rich with ideas and advice. I met many wonderful teachers

Dr. Laver was amazing. Not only is he a walking textbook, but I found his enthusiasm highly contagious. I could easily picture the events unfolding before our eyes. To be on the ground where it took place and hear him tell the stories was absolutely captivating. What a perfect day!
