LPB’s mission is to provide programs and services that educate, enlighten and entertain. As part of this mission, LPB has been working with organizations involved with literacy to ensure that the people of Louisiana who want to improve their reading, workplace skills, and life skills can find appropriate services to help them meet their personal goals.

Recently LPB hosted an initial leadership summit comprised of some organizations concerned with the literacy of children, adults, and families in Louisiana. LPB will continue to work with these and other organizations to help identify and develop a network to provide literacy instruction statewide.

In the future, LPB will use Literacy-in-Focus to provide information about:

• literacy events. (Register to list your Events or Search for an event)
• professional development opportunities for teachers and volunteers involved with literacy
• organizations and facilities where instruction in reading and workplace skills can be obtained.
