Electronic Field Trips

I’m glad that you want to take part in the Kite Festival electronic field trip.  Prior to the field trip LPB would like to check that you can successfully receive the field trip.

  1. On Monday March 31st anytime from 8 – 10 AM, would you please go online to www.lpb.org/education/etrips.

  2. Click on the field trip log in  button for the Kite Festival.

  3. Log in using the username and password you created when you registered.

  4. Click on the arrow on the video player.  The windows media player should pop up and a message in the bottom left corner will indicate that it is trying to connect.

  5. If you see color bars you are successfully connected!  You should also see LPB or Louisiana Public Broadcasting in the lower left corner.  Stop the player and log-out.  You are set for the field trip.

  6. On the day of the field trip follow the directions below.  Be sure to alert your IT department or technology coordinator ahead of time that you will be streaming a live event so they do not download or do other bandwidth intensive procedures during the hour trip.

If you do not see color bars during the test:

  1. have your technology coordinator check the requirements at www.lpb.org/education/etrips/troubleshooting  and make necessary adjustments.

  2. then repeat steps 1-5.

  3. If you still are unable to see color bars, then the tech coordinator should call Ellen Wydra at  (800) 272-8161, ext. 4453 for further assistance.

To take part in the field trip on April 1st

  1. Shortly before 9 am go online to www.lpb.org/education/etrips

  2. Click on the field trip log in  button for the Kite Festival

  3. Log in using the username and password you created when you registered
(if you have forgotten your password, click on the forgotten password link and it will be emailed to you.)

  4. Click on the arrow on the video player.  The windows media player should pop up and a message in the bottom left corner will indicate that it is trying to connect.

  5. When the connection is successful you will see LPB or Louisiana Public Broadcasting in the bottom left corner of the player.  The screen will be black until the trip begins.

  6. When the field trip begins you will see it in the player.

  7. A toll-free phone number and e-mail address where questions can be submitted will be on the screen.  The phone lines tie up quickly so you may be more successful emailing your questions.

We hope you enjoy the trip!
