Two 50-minute classes.
Andrew Higgins, was a New Orleans ship builder who changed the course
of World War II. His company, Higgins Industries, was developing
boats to be used by the oil industry in their search for oil in the
bayous of Louisiana. His “Higgins boat” allowed for the
amphibious landings along the coast of France during the Normandy
invasion. Students will examine his tremendous contribution to the
war effort and consider how he was the right man to help America
win World War II.
